Missouri 2010 ~ Genealogy Trip
So I up and decided that I was going to drive to Missouri because I needed some genealogy info, and I had already found all that I was going to find on Ancestry.com. I arrived last night and got a hotel, got some sleep and headed to the Lebanon library first thing this morning. I am kind of disappointed in the amount of info that I found today. I did get one thing however, that I couldn't get all of online, and that is the story of my Great Great Great Grandfather coming by wagon from Tennessee to Lebanon, Missouri. This is a shot of the scattered rain showers when I was driving in yesterday along I 44 in Missouri.
I also found where he was buried. After driving for a few miles out into the middle of nowhere, down a few gravel roads, I came upon the cemetery. However when I arrived, there was a locked gate at the entrance. I also learned at the library that he is in an unmarked grave,so I figured that this was close enough. The man that lies beyond this gate served in the civil war.
Leaving the cemetery, still in the boonies, Missouri is however quite scenic.
This is a shot of the countryside next to New Hope Cemetery, another cemetery where I have Great Great Grandparents. They don't have so bad of a view.
A couple miles down the road is the town of Long Lane MO. This place consists of about 3 houses, and a gas station. Also this old bank (the smallest bank in MO!) I had Great Grandparents who lived in this town, maybe they even used this bank! How cool! As an added bonus, there was also a Geocache here.

While I was at "The Smallest Bank In Missouri" taking pics, and signing the log book in the Geocache I got the odd feeling that I was being watched. I turned around and snapped this.
Since I didn't have much luck at the Lebanon Library, I then headed to Pulaski County, which is the next county over. I had planned on going to the Waynesville Library. When I arrived, I learned that they decided to close the library early today because of a staff meeting. NICE! SO I got back in the car and headed for the small town of Crocker, MO. This where my grandma was born, and also where my great grandparents lived. This picture is of a small park in downtown Crocker.
The train Caboose siting in the Crocker Park.
The best way to describe this town would be "The town that time forgot". Besides the park, and a newer gas station this town is well past its heyday.
The water tower.
The road between Waynesville and Crocker is quite scenic, took this out the window as I was driving along.
Tomorrow I will head back to Waynesville, as it is back towards home anyway, see if I can get any more information, and then be on my way home.
