Third time is a charm right? This is my third attempt at writing this blog. I keep hitting some button that takes me back to the drawing board. Writing this is word now. Welcome to 2010!  I am not as excited about the new year as I normally am. 2009 was a GREAT year and I cant imagine 2010 beating it. 2009 was also my first calendar year sober, coincidence? Probably not.
A few good things will be happening this year, so I guess its not all bad. First off I will be getting my drivers license back soon. As soon as I get $700 to pay for it that is. That is great news because it has not been fun depending on others or my own two feet for the last year to get me where I’m going. Expect a lot more new pictures on this site when that happens. Also I will be off probation in June. Helen should be starting the nursing program in the fall semester and finishing up school by next spring. That bring me to my next bit of news.
I have gazed into the crystal ball, consulted the gods, checked my palm and compiled all of the results to come up with a preliminary move date for our move to Colorado of June 27th 2011. Just this simple step of actually setting a date makes it seem more real, and like it may actually happen. The planning process can continue now.  I have added a countdown clock to the main page ;o)
This is the time of year that I start looking forward to the warmer months of the year, and start making plans. I plan on doing a lot more cycling this year. I got my feet wet in the sport last year and really enjoyed it. I even managed to get in a couple of 30 mile rides in. You can check out my 2010 cycling page to see details of what I have planned. As of right now there is only one ride listed but I will be adding more later tonight. I have been thinking, for the past year or so, that it would be fun to do a coast to coast ride across America. Maybe riding to raise money for some charity or something. Many hundreds of people do this every year, and I think it would be a blast. I am only in the beginning stages of planning this so it will be a while before I have details.  Well I think that’s all I have for now, enjoy the new year!
For the past few days it has been warmer around here. Warm enough for me to get out and get some pictures taken anyway. Helen and I headed up to Huntington Reservoir this week and I managed to get a couple of pictures before I tripped and dropped the camera in the snow. The camera is fine but it needed to dry out, so I didn’t get many pictures. Below are just a couple, I didn’t think they were worth creating a new page about so I just included them here. One view of the reservoir through the woods, and a shot of what I like to call the “Deer Highway” All of the tracks in this photo are deer tracks. I followed them for about ½ a mile. Seen one deer, but he saw me first and was gone before I got a picture. That’s all I got for now, have a great 2010!
